My London Program

April 27, 2017 - Context of Education

A study trip to London created the opportunity to experience London from it’s ‘makerside’. I organized three expert interviews, one workshop from NESTA and visited one presentation of Rehab Studio and one meeting with James Tooze from the Royal College of Art. Next to my meetings and interviews I met two managers of making who I had ver interesting conversations with to continue later in my research. In this blogpost I summarized my events in this study trip. In this briefly post I created links to some extended blogposts about the sessions. (more links will follow soon!)

I used the time in which we traveled from Rotterdam to London by train to crotch parts for my cultural probe. When at home I finished this little cats and filled them with electronics to record audio during failure. Next to all planned and unplanned meetings I had several good conversations with my fellow students and students from the second year of the master. These conversations helped me sharpen my research and gave new insights on design and making.

I am looking back on a very intensive but successful trip to London. I will use the next weeks to gain more insights on making mistakes with or by makers. Tomorrow I will interview Henk Hagoort, college chairman of Windesheim Zwolle University of applied sciences.
